چکیده

In the infrared spectrum, two contributions to shadows exist: one part is reflective shadows resulting from occlusion of instantly reflected infrared rays, and the other part is thermal (IR) shadows occurring through occlusion of irradiance in the past. The realization of thermal shadows requires a thermal balance calculation in four-dimensions (three-dimensional geometry in one-dimensional time), which is computationally expensive, and therefore mostly used for nonreal-time simulations. We present an approximation of thermal shadows resulting from the occlusion of direct rays from IR emitters. Our approach uses programmable graphics cards to achieve real-time frame rates in scenes with dynamic geometry. © 2014 Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE) [DOI: 10.1117/1.OE.53.5.053113]

Shadows for Infrared Scene Generation

In the infrared spectrum, two contributions to shadows exist: one part are reflective shadows resulting from occlusion of instantly reflected infrared rays, and the other part are thermal shadows occurring through occlusion of irradiance in the past. The realization of thermal shadows requires a thermal balance calculation in 4D (3D geometry in 1D time) which is computational expensive, and the...

Transient Three-Dimensional Thermal Analysis of a Slab with internal heat generation and heated by a Point Moving Heat Source

In this work, analysis of transient three-dimensional heat transfer in a slab with internal heat generation and heated by a point moving heat source along its axis is carried out using integral transforms methods. The heat input into slab or workpiece by the moving heat source is considered in the model. From the results, it was established that the temperature of the material during the heat t...

Pedestrian Detection in Infrared Outdoor Images Based on Atmospheric Situation Estimation

Observation in absolute darkness and daytime under every atmospheric situation is one of the advantages of thermal imaging systems. In spite of increasing trend of using these systems, there are still lots of difficulties in analysing thermal images due to the variable features of pedestrians and atmospheric situations. In this paper an efficient method is proposed for detecting pedestrians in ...

Modeling the potential of Sand and Dust Storm sources formation using time series of remote sensing data, fuzzy logic and artificial neural network (A Case study of Euphrates basin)

Due to the differences between the visible and thermal infrared images, the combination of these two types of images leads to better understanding of  the characteristics of targets and the environment. Thermal infrared images are really in distinguishing targets from the background based on the radiation differences and  land surface temperature (LST) calculation. However, their spatial resolu...

Instrumentation and Procedures for Validation of Synthetic Infrared Image Generation (sig) Models

Synthetic infrared image generation models are becoming more complex with the incorporation of radiation propagation, thermodynamic, environmental, energy matter interaction, and sensor models linked through ray tracers into CAD models of scenes. As these models evolve, it is becoming increasingly necessary and difficult to design validation experiments to determine how well the models work and...
